From Ploughing to Harvesting

The following is a sample 120–135-day timeline for cereals and similar field crops. It helps farmers understand the sequence of land preparation, sowing, crop establishment, nutrient management, irrigation, pest control, maturity and harvesting.

Important Activities Throughout the Crop Period

Irrigation

Do not irrigate solely according to a fixed number of days. Check:

  • Soil moisture near the root zone

  • Rainfall received

  • Crop growth stage

  • Temperature and wind

  • Soil type and drainage

  • Irrigation-system efficiency
